Booking Ice Time

The Thorold Community Arena is available to rent for private use, teams games, practices, tournaments or special events from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. Monday to Friday and 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Prime time ice is available in both arenas from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. weekdays and all weekend hours.  Non-prime time ice is available from arena opening to 8:00 a.m. and from 11:00 p.m. to close.  Day time ice is between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on weekdays only.  Ice rentals are arranged through the arena office and must be accompanied with a completed ice time application form and proof of insurance* (see below).  Contact the arena office at 905-227-1148 for a copy of the ice time application form.

Be advised that requests to cancel booked ice time must be made five (5) days in advance of the scheduled rental date.  Ice time that is returned to the office will become available for rental.

*All arena rentals must provide proof of insurance, which may be purchased through the City.  A minimum of two million dollars ($2,000,000 CDN) in Commercial General Liability naming The Corporation of the City of Thorold as additional insured is required.  The cost of insurance will vary depending upon the activity, age of the participants and size of the group.  Some activities may not be eligible for coverage through this policy.  Insurance coverage is mandatory for all groups and individuals.

General Arena Rules

  • All on-ice participants must wear skates
  • Food and drinks are not permitted on the ice surface
  • Skate at a sensible speed and in the direction indicated by the on-ice skate patrol
  • No throwing ice or snow
  • No horseplay, games of tag or racing, backwards skating or figure skating

The City of Thorold strongly recommends that all participants wear a CSA approved hockey helmet when participating in ice sports and activities.
