Paratransit Service

Paratransit Service provided by the St. Catharines Transit Commission and available to Thorold residents whose physical disability prevents them from using regular bus service available in Thorold.  The applicant, as well as their medical professional, must complete an application before eligibility may be determined. Applications are available from the Clerk's Department Thorold City Hall or printed from this website.

Paratransit service offers service parallel to the city bus service. 


Eligibility Criteria for Paratransit Service

1. Paratransit is a service for persons who have physical disabilities that result in their inability to use regular bus service.  
    This refers to persons who are physically unable to:

          i) Board a regular bus, which involves climbing or descending three steps or,

          ii) Walk a distance of 175 meters.

2. Persons with mental or cognitive disabilities, or the elderly or blind, may be eligible for Paratransit, provided they have 
    physical disabilities that prevent them from boarding a regular bus or walking a distance of 175 meters.

Each rider must pay a fare of $3.00 per person per trip when using Paratransit Services.

Paratransit services operates in the City of Thorold, Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.   Sunday or holiday service is not available.

Approved Paratransit riders must confirm their need for Paratransit services every year.  A new application will be mailed to you by the Clerk's Department mid-October for Paratransit services for the following calendar year.
